Important global outbreak alert by CECC
CECC confirms 26,765 more COVID-19 cases, including 26,450 domestic cases and 315 imported cases
On August 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 26,765 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 26,765 new cases, 26,450 are domestic and 315 are imported. The CECC announced 31 deaths today.
Regarding the 26,450 new domestic cases, 11,993 are male and 14,446 are female, while the gender of the other 11 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,695 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,273 in Taipei City, 3,080 in Taichung City, 2,928 in Taoyuan City, 2,071 in Kaohsiung City, 1,684 in Tainan City, 1,117 in Changhua County, 825 in Hsinchu City, 810 in Hsinchu County, 678 in Miaoli County, 624 in Pingtung County, 596 in Yilan County, 533 in Yunlin County, 508 in Hualien County, 503 in Keelung City, 431 in Chiayi County, 350 in Nantou County, 265 in Chiayi City, 239 in Taitung County, 117 in Penghu County, 108 in Kinmen County, and 15 in Lienchiang County.
Regarding the 31 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 21 men and 10 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.
Regarding the 315 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 28 and August 27, 2022.
The CECC reported that a total of 16,037,497 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,808,535. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,221,585 cases. Of the 5,221,585 confirmed cases, 27,014 are imported; 5,194,517 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,844 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,844 deaths, 9,828 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
